Product of your product

So you found a work at home opportunity that you feel good about. Now what? Depending on which type of business you chose there will be some available training, even if you chose real estate, [if so find a mentor, I can not stress that enough]for you to attend. In network marketing the system hopefully is duplicable. Meaning everyone can follow a "template" and have success. Does this always work? For most, yes, especially in the beginning. Once you find your groove you can adjust as needed for you. The one area I feel strong about, and some will disagree, is being a product of your product. This simply means, if you chose a company that is marketing a snake oil extract that will make you appear younger, use it. You want to believe in the company and its products how else can you feel good about "sharing" the product or opportunity? Is this necessary for success, I believe so. Let me tell you a story. Two guys started a local fruit drink business. They went around their neighborhood reserving cooler space to put their product. Shortly they started to grow, and grow, and grow. They got so big they wanted to grow more so they started a commercial campaign, you might remember "Wendy" [now you know who I am talking about?] They grew so big a giant food company made them an offer they couldn't refuse. So they took it. A strange thing happened, sales dropped! No one could figure it out, same product, huge marketing machine behind it [they did drop Wendy!]what happened???? One train of thought on this was at the business meetings the 2 guys would have there would be buckets of ice and their fruit drinks, everyone at the company loved the drinks and had input on flavors. The new corporation had coffee and water, no time to focus on on line of drinks at meetings, when they had a full line of food products. Sales eventually dropped off so much the 2 guys got the company back, pennies on the dollar. Bottom line if you are a product of your product the passion you will have for it will show and make you a more believable communicator, Notice I said communicator not salesperson....more on that next time

So you want to start a home based business, where do you start? Well you can answer various adds on TV,Radio, on-line, etc. Talk to friends and family they may know of someone involved in something and it may interest you. What do you need to do first? You need to figure out how much time you have that you can put into it, how much $$$$ [yes you will need to spend money, more on that later] and why do you want to do this. You will need to be open minded and ready for a change in your life, in the beginning it will take more time then you'd like the business to but it will get better as you learn. There will be naysayers that tell you it wont work. Have they actually ever tried anything besides going to their job working for someone else. You may be uncomfortable at time doing these new things, but that will pass especially as your checks get bigger.
How will you know if an opportunity is legit? Well if your reading this I would have to assume you have internet access, so google them. Also go to places like scam.com One thing becareful on those site, while they are helpful there are some angry people on there who fall into the naysayer category. You will be able to spot them they have negative things to say about every opportunity. Find out how long have they been in business. How their compensation payout works [has anyone complained about lack of payout?] Any lawsuits or investigation? You get the point. Most important make sure you believe in the product or service, so you can "be a product of the product" Sure this isn't 100% necessary but it puts the odds in your favor. This also includes real estate, surveys [stay away], data entry, etc.
Now back to the money issue. Sure you are going to need to put up money, but how much has to be decided by you before you set out on this adventure. This will narrow down you choice to what fits you best. You might think why is this necessary, while every company has different reasons for it, the bottom line is there are expenses to be incurred during start-up and operation. Just look at franchising fees for McDonald's.
I have over 10 years experience in trying these things and am currently involved in one I believe in, so if you have any questions about anything in this regards feel free to ask me.
